Emergency Phone NumbersDecember 14th Crafts Fair at Zac's Restaurant The
Zac's Annual Craft Fair was held on Sunday December 14th
at Zac's Bar and Grill Restaurant. Various booths were
offering hand made jewelry (by Roberta Booth), crafts (from
Raven's collection), organic food products (from Samantha Kosty
- Cocina Colibri), books and post cards (Judith Greenleaf)
for sale to fair visitors. Hot dogs and beer were also available,
as were the upstairs bar and grill facilities at Zac's. This
event was organized in conjunction with LIGIMAC (a well known
Cabo Mexican-American-Canadian charitable organization). We look forward
to this annual event returning next year! ATV's and vehicles on the beach create nuisance for sea life, beach goers and home owners
These prohibitions to vehicles are rarely, if ever, enforced aound Zacatitos by the police, but the prohibitions are in effect. So, before we do another update 'outing' people and their vehicles driving the beach, perhaps we could inform our visitors and neighbors, and especially rentors who come for a weekend or week, about not driving on the beach. If the reason of a 'federal law' is not enough, then perhaps the notion that we at Zacatitos have periodic turtle egg laying areas on the beaches should strike a chord of reason as to why driving on the beach is a 'bad idea' and should be avoided. New restaurant-bar 'Zac's' opens in Los Zacatitos
Assisting Paul and Angel are chef Erica and bar manager Jesus Serano. Zac's features a full-service bar and lunch and full-dinner dining menus, which are excellent and varied (from salads, sandwiches, and lunch entres to chicken and steak dinners). The restaurant-bar is open throughout the year with the exception of September. Zac's is a welcome neighborhood restaurant bar, joining Buzzards (La Laguna) and Crossroads (Vinorama) as the only such facilities on the East Cape road from San Jose del Cabo. The remodeling and construction labor, and all furniture were locally obtained. The owners, Paul and Angel Rini, said they benefited greatly from local neighborhood support (for obtaining their operating license), and also said that this restaurant-bar was created with community needs and enhancement in mind. The neighborhood bar concept will soon feature sporting events presented on the upstairs TV. Judging from the attendance and enthusiastic response of diners during the past few weeks, this restaurant-bar is 'the place' for great casual dining and to meet old friends and make new ones. Future plans include a store (tienda) located adjacent to the restaurant-bar. Upcoming events include a New Year's Eve Party on December 31st, 2008 (beginning at 9 p.m.). East Cape Recycling Center at Los Zacatitos needs your ongoing participation and support
The East Cape Recycling Center - serving not only Los Zacatitos but other nearby coastal communities - needs your support in the form of donations going towards recycling costs, transportation, and covering transport of recycled materials and plastics to La Paz. A culture of recycling takes time and Los Zacatitos promises
to be one of the new examples of community efforts working in the
East Cape. Your on-site Saturday donations will make all the difference
and assure the continuation of this valuable service! Household (unsorted) garbage pick-up (50 PESOS
per large bag), a real bargain considering the alternative of
a bad road and 'looking for garbage cans', is now available on Wednesdays
- after 2:30 p.m and can be arranged on Saturdays 9a.m. - 12 noon
at the Recycling Center. We encourage you to sign up if you have
not already done so. This service can only be viable for the operators
if enough people sign up. Contact Johnny Ortega at Los Zacatitos
to sign up for recycling and garbage pick-up.
